The Joan Fernie Charitable Trust has recently completed a modernisation exercise.
This has resulted in a change of some Trustees, a new management structure, regularisation of some matters through the High Court and an update of the Trust Deed.
The focus of the new team is to modernise the farming businesses through capital injections into Cyclone Gabrielle repairs and attention to deferred expenditure on buildings and fencing.
The Trustees are delighted to have appointed Danny Angland to the role of operations manager from early January 2024. Danny is a former Hawke’s Bay Farmer of the Year and has successfully led Kereru Station for 17 years including its development of a large-scale water storage project.
While the Trust is modernising its farming operation it also wishes to support community aspirations. Trustees are open to new ideas and partnerships and has recently made an offer to use parts of Chesterhope Station to support future flood protection enhancement for Napier, Hastings and Pakowhai.
